About The Author

Larry French, M.DM, CEM, CDM

Larry French is an International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and an American Red Cross (ARC) Certified Disaster Manager (CDM)with over 20 years of experience in disaster and emergency preparedness, response, and management. He holds a master’s degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from Tel Aviv University’s Lowy International School in Tel Aviv, Israel, and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. His background includes work in law enforcement, firefighting, emergency medical services, and disaster management for non-profit organizations and agencies, including universities, hospitals, and county government. He continues to maintain active Advanced EMT and Firefighter I/II Certifications.

He has expertise in crisis and risk communications, ICS Planning, and exercise design and operation. He has managed teams with over 200 disaster preparedness and response volunteers and a paid staff. He has been an instructor for three different agencies, teaching hundreds of courses in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, as well as medical topics, including EMT: B courses. With over 26 previous disaster deployments to disasters ranging from apartment building fires, floods, mass casualty events, and hurricanes to thousands of hours spent on an ambulance or fire truck, he has both the theoretical knowledge and the on-the-ground experience to validate it.

This site is a culmination of his research, education, experience, and desire to help others succeed in Emergency and Disaster Management.
